We were captivated by their gigantic menu posted outside their restaurant and so we decided to give it a try.  One of a kind fusion restaurant that has been growing since their opening in SM The Block branch.

Tokyo Cafe when heard was mistakenly thought simply a coffee shop, but it’s not!  It is a restaurant where japanese food was served, not only that they do also have salad, pasta, sandwich, burgers simply an ala-carte meals either with meat, or seafood, their most sought dessert was said to be heavenly.

They have a cool giant posters of their products offered where one who would glanced at it will surely salivated and will never leave the restaurant without tasting that glaring picture that they have posted on their walls.

    mango chicken salad

    mango chicken salad

For appetizer, we had Mango Chicken Salad chicken salad, ripe mango, grapes & romaine lettuce.  At the price at P170.00, it was sumptuous!  Who would have thought that one can taste a salad as fresh as this?  They have used a fresh lettuce, grapes used was seedless, mangoes was a little bit sour than pure sweet taste, and their chicken salad has just the right amount of  onions, chicken and mayonnaise.   I was hungry for more and thought of having my second serving of salad after finishing this.

    french fries

    french fries

We were looking for something that will make my son busy and so we have requested French fries.  This was a complimentary for my son.  It was deep-fried, without any salt, tasted purely potatoes.

    Chicken ala pobre

    Chicken ala pobre

For our main dish, we had Chicken ala pobre boneless chicken leg quarter with garlic, lemon and pepper price at the price of P175.00.  We were stunned when this was served.  The serving was too small for it’s price, chicken was a little bit hard than usual and was already dry, it was overcooked.

    creamy ebiko pasta

    creamy ebiko pasta

For the most awaited dish, the Creamy Ebiko Pasta shrimp, karashi, ebiko, and cream pasta price price at P255.00.  The photos in the menu was much more appetizing, for we didn’t tasted the creaminess as detailed, tasted pasta with a simple shrimp broth.

    mango banana tropical

    mango banana tropical

For dessert, we had Mango Banana Tropical mango, banana slices, banana sauce, whipped cream and strawberry ice cream drizzled with choco syrup price at P135.00.  This was heavenly!  Crepe was freshly cooked, chocolate syrup was not that sweet, and ice cream used was delectable!  I expected it to be overly sweet but it was not.  Ripe mangoes used was cut in cubes and was placed on top of the crepe, before the ice cream and chocolate syrup.

    cafe smoogee

    cafe smoogee

Cafe Smoogee straight up espresso based smoogee with whipped cream price at P126.00.   A great description to describe this?  Yummy!  It was a strong coffee based that has a hint of bitterness in every sip.

    iced lemon tea

    iced lemon tea

Iced Lemon Tea price at P68.00  Their iced tea was a brewed black tea and not powdered, which makes it more natural.  Warning for those who couldn’t take a bitter-taste black tea, this one is.

    holy cow

    holy cow

We were attracted by the menu gallery displayed outside the store, and so we decided to have a Holy Cow! experienced.   We were guided to our preferred seats and were given a menu.  They have wooden seats and couch were also available.  Trayliners and utensils were immediately provided but no one’s prepared to get our orders.  To our dismayed, crews were not that attentive to your needs.

    county mushroom soup

    county mushroom soup

For starters, we had County Mushroom Soup, mushroom soup with bread sticks price price at P85.00.  A different version of mushroom soup, but to our dismayed it was a bit salty and seems like they put soysauce to it.  It’s  not that creamy and not that hot for a soup.   I give this 2/5.

    creamy clam chowder

    creamy clam chowder

Creamy Clam Chowder, creamy soup with clams and parmesan bread sticks price price at P75.00.  Now this is creamy and yes you can truly taste the clams in this soup.  Truly a clam chowder alright.  I give this 5/5.

    cowboy combo platter

    cowboy combo platter

Cowboy Combo Platter, breaded chicken tenders, onion ring and barbeque flavored fries price at P295.00.  I can say we were awed when this dish was served on our table, huge serving!  Onion rings has lots of breading good for me for i like it that way, while chicken tenders more on chicken skin than chicken meat, fries were salted and tasted good.  I give this 4/5.

    superb creamy cheese carbonara

    superb creamy cheese carbonara

Superb creamy cheese carbonara solo price at P145.00, regular price at P265.00.  I love this dish! It is creamy and the bacon were crunchy good together, and they don’t scrimp on cheese!  The name of the dish itself speaks for itself Superb!  I give this 5/5.

    lonestar grilled porkchops

    lonestar grilled porkchops

Lonestar Grilled Porkchop served with roasted apple gravy price at P220.00.  Their porkchop were juicy, and more lean meat were served.  I like porkchop with typical gravy taste than with apple gravy.  Steamed vegetables were crunchy and cooked just right.  I give this 3/5.

    running iron chicken barbeque

    running iron chicken barbeque

Running Iron Chicken Barbeque, chicken quarter served with sweet hickory barbeque sauce price at P220.00.  Can’t wait to chow down this dish.  Their chicken barbeque were juicy but find it more sour taste than sweetness too much marination?  Corn on the cob were crunchy which i find it perfect!  The rice is a bit dry though.  I give this 4/5.

    mashed potatoes

    mashed potatoes

Mashed Potatoes price at P45.00.  Their version of mashed potatoes were not fully mashed and not creamy.  I find it dry with chunks of potatoes in every spoonful bite.  I give this 3/5.

    citrus black tea

    citrus black tea

Citrus Black Tea,  ceylon tea with citrus fruit extract price at P65.00.  A different version of ice tea, taste like brewing a tea then add some ice voila! citrus black tea!   I give this 4/5.

    white grape tea

    white grape tea

White Grape Tea, white tea with grape juice and fresh grapes price at P65.00.  You’ll definitely taste the hint of grape with ice tea it was refreshing but sweet.  I give this 4/5.

Overall, I give Holy Cow! Steak Ranch and American Grill a 3/5 for the service, food and ambience.

At first, we were a bit hesistant to dine at Abe, for we thought this is a fine dining restaurant, which means equals to pricey food but then maybe we were impressed with the image they possessed.  From outside of the restaurant, you could feel the prestige the restaurant delivers, tables with neatly lined utensils on top with a remarkable white linens, the furnitures used were on classy style, astonishing interiors,  the paintings displayed, and the plants on every corner.  But once you enter the restaurant, such a homey scent.  Seems like we were transported in a time warp to early 80’s?  If you will be dining as a group, reservation helps, for this has been a favorite resto for Filipino dish and it will be hard on your end to waste the time to wait.  Since, we have reserved an hour before dinner we were lucky to still get in, just in time for dinner.  Their staffs were attentive, and quickly guide us to a seat designated for us.  We were informed as to what are their bestsellers and they even gave a suggestion that will suits our taste pallette.

    green mango & bagoong salad

    green mango & bagoong salad

For appetizer we had, Green Mango and Bagoong Salad.  It was the typical green mango taste i think they used the Pico breed of mango here for it was not too sour which is advantageous for us hungry crowd, bagoong or shrimp paste were sweet and cooked just right.  It was price at P95.00 per serving.

sinigang of bangus belly with ripe guava

sinigang of bangus belly with ripe guava

Sinigang of bangus belly with ripe guava.  If you’re craving for a different kind of sinigang this one’s for you, but if you’re not that adventurous to try a different recipe for the all-time favorite sinigang soup, Think again! This sinigang taste more like guava than sinigang itself and has a thick consistency which is a bit weird to the crowd’s taste for it seems not good to pair it with rice.    With a limited number of Bangus (milkfish), but with crunchy kangkong at the price of P395.00.

    pastel de lengua

    pastel de lengua

Pastel de Lengua, now this one was delectable!  The ox tongue was sliced into chunks, were really soft and creamy, taste just right!  While the pastel itself is a bit chewy and crunchy at P330.00 per serving.  Serves 3-4 persons already.

    spicy sisig pampanga
    spicy sisig pampanga

Spicy sisig pampanga, since this was expected to be oily alright but I can’t seem to control myself to chow down this dish.  It seems taste more like pork itself than the true content of a sisig.  At P175.00 per serving.

crispy pork adobo ni lola ising
crispy pork adobo ni lola ising

Crispy pork adobo ni lola ising, we were astonished as to how small the serving was at the price of  P385.00.  Once tasted,  you’ll surely know the answer.  It was perfect among adobo i’ve tasted.  It was really crispy and the adobo sauce on the sides were perfect! Not that salty nor sweet but, sadly it is oily.

    regular ice tea

    regular ice tea

Regular ice tea,  iced tea combined with orange juice.  Refreshing!   The supervisor offered us their special iced tea,  which was iced tea with lemon grass combined with muscovado syrup.  I give up instantly when he gave us a free taste of such drink it was too sweet for my taste.
