hap chan

Another great place for a good chinese food is Hap Chan Tea House. This time we visited Hap Chan at banawe Quezon City. The restaurant is newly renovated, now with a new interior and a new appearance. Hap Chan is well known for their dimsum.  But it is not only the dimsum that will keep you coming back, check out some of their food and the review I made for them below.

fish lip soup

Among the soup they have our personal favorite is the Fish Lip Soup. It has mushrooms, some meat pieces and bamboo shoots in it. It is cooked using fish broth with cornstarch making the texture of the soup thick. This is a highly recommended soup. Its a close alternative to the sharks fin soup, This taste best with a few drops of black vinegar in it.  A single order is good for 2-3 people.

steamed siomai

A sample of their Dimsum is the Steamed Siomai. Serving size 4 pieces. It is basically pork meat wrapped in wanton wrappers and steam cooked. Highly recommended with Chiu Chow Chili Sauce. Perfect for an afternoon or midnight snack. Other dimsums are siopao, sharks fin dumpling, kuchay dumpling, raddish cake, japanese siomai and chicken feet.

yang chow fried rice

One of the highlights of hap chan for me is the Yang Chow Fried Rice. I’ve eaten in a lot of chinese restaurants before but only a few comes close to the taste of their yang chow fried rice. It has carrots, , onions, green peas, onion grass, cabbage and pork asado pieces in it.  Serving size is good for 2-3 people. The fried rice itself is already a complete meal even without a viand. Both adults and kids will surely love the taste of their fried rice.

sweet and sour fish fillet

Next in line is the Sweet and sour fish fillet. The fish fillet is deep fried crispy, then the sweet and sour sauce is poured on top.  Wow, this dish is really good and  my son loves it. You can taste the juicy fish fillet with the really appetizing sweet and sour sauce. It has carrots and onions in it. Try adding the sauce to your rice and taste the difference. The fish fillet is really crispy outside and soft and juicy inside.

mapo tofu

Last but not the least is the Mapo Tofu. Now this is my all time favorite. Its an original dish from hongkong. Its a spicy tofu cubes dish with pork, onion grass, chili and onion pieces in it.  The sauce is really thick and tasty.  Whether you will be taking fried rice or plain rice with it you will surely love this dish. Serving Size is good for 2-3 people. Studies show that tofu help prevent cancer, so this dish is not just healthy but tasty as well.

mango shake

For drinks, highlights are fruit shakes like the mango shake. Its a bit on the sweet side so those that are not a fan of sweet drinks might end up having sugar free sodas or water.

They also offer deliveries for small parties at home. Try them out. Some other must try dishes at hap chan are roasting dishes, congee, noodles, rice toppings and chinese desserts like black gulaman and butchi.

Overall I give Hap Chan banawe branch 4/5 for the ambiance. 5/5 for the food taste.
