We were hungry for new breed of resto and we have chanced upon Chef Robert along Banawe Ave. Quezon City.  With excitement and eagerness we entered the homey feel of Chef Robert’s place.  We were immediately greeted by the resto’s host and were escorted to our seats.  We were delighted with their staff approach when we were about to order our food, she was energetic, friendly and most of all knowledgeable of what do they offer.  She even suggested what are the promotions that the resto has to offer for us to save some bucks.  Cool isn’t it?

    pumpkin soup

    pumpkin soup

Pumpkin soup, their version is creamy and you can truly taste the squash/pumpkin used, not salty nor bland, amazing how one resto can achieved such taste at a very affordable price for an additional of P25.00 for every meal ordered you can savour the goodness of this soup.  Oh by the way,  Chef Robert offers different kinds of soup everyday.  A rating of 5/5 for this soup.

    crisp tofu in hondashi dressing

    crisp tofu in hondashi dressing

Crisp Tofu in Hondashi Dressing served with bonito flakes and spring onions.  We were in awe when this was served, the flakes on top of the Tofu were as if dancing or moving, we couldn’t help but to stare.  Their tofu were truly crispy and the taste of the dressing used gives a different kick for a simple tofu, at the  price of P125.00.  I give this a  rating of 5/5.

    korean beef stew

    korean beef stew

Korean Beef Stew, their version of beef stew were truly tasty with a hint of sweetness.  Even my son couldn’t help but to finish his meal.   Beef  itself were really juicy and tender.  At the price of P185.00.  A rating of 5/5 for this dish.

    Chicken chop in pepper sauce

    Chicken chop in pepper sauce

Chicken Chop in Pepper Sauce, they marinated well the chicken and it was kinda spicy as the name suggests.  Though I was expecting more Pepper Sauce, but don’t be deceived with the size of the chicken for i was able to devour two cup of rice for this viand.  At the price ofP145.00.  A rating of 4/5 for this dish.

    banana-mango shake

    banana-mango shake

Banana-Mango Shake,  at first sip you’ll know that they didn’t scrimp on the fruit used.  Who wouldn’t enjoy a fruit shake like that?  I thought i’ll get goose-bumps with the sweetness this drink has to offer but I was wrong!  It was just right and refreshing.  A rating of 5/5 for this drink.

    Banana Split

    Banana Split

Banana Split, with a generous scoop of Vanilla, Strawberry and Ube ice cream with cherries on top of each.  This is one of my favorite.  Ice cream used is not that ordinary to our taste.  A rating of 5/5 for this dessert.

Overall, I gave Chef Robert a rating of 5/5 for the ambiance, service, taste, and presentation.  Couldn’t wait for our next visit at Chef Robert.

dsc09044Out of the unexpected places within the heart of the foody central of Quezon City Tomas Morato, me and my gang stumble upon a cozy dessert place that serves great tasting cakes in the Metro. To all foodies out there, I introduce you all to Lia’s Cake in Season

dsc09043The cake shoppe is located at the 3rd floor of the Bellagio square Tomas Morato (the same square where Ratsky is located). The place offers many varieties of cakes some we are all familiar  (cheesecakes and decadence), but some are quite out of the ordinary (such as calamansi tea cake, or the avocado sans rival) that i definitely want to try. But for now, i content myself with my choices below.

    dsc09031

    Lia’s Signature Dish Avocado Cake

Many people recommend this cake to taste and I certainly agree to all fans out there that this cake is really good. The avocado taste is mild and simple, The taste is very balanced and nothing is overpowering the other. A slice for 85php The experience is worth it thus This dish gets my complete 5/5 stars

    dsc090361

Black Currant Ice Tea and Chocolate Decadence Cake

My GF loved the ice tea very much. She finds the taste surprisingly mild with the hint of the currant not overpowering the whole drink. The Chocolate decadence was mild and smooth like a mousse. Just the way I like it. Tea is at 65php and gets a 5/5 star for pleasing my GF while the Decadence is at 50php a slice gets a 4/5 stars of simplicity

    dsc09034Red Velvet Cake

I find the cake too simple and basic for my taste but my kada who ordered it is very much pleased with it. at 50php a slice, the cake gets a 4/5 stars for pleasing the gang.

I find the place to be very cozy and homey, Very much hidden from all the hustle and bustle of city life. The shoppe offers free wifi access which makes it a more enticing for techno geeky to burn the afternoon or midnight tambay. I will definitely will have to go back for I still want to try out there other unique cakes that strikes my curiosity. This place is worth hanging out for after lunch or dinner dessert or just simply a place to kill time. 5/5 stars for overall experience.

    choi garden

    choi garden

Choi Garden, a very prestige and well-known chinese resto in the heart of Annapolis, San Juan.  We were fortunate that they could still accommodate us on a Saturday night.  We were awed with the number of avid customers of this resto.  It was a loooong line!  Some waited for hours just to dine here.  It was unbelievable!  Adults, kids, some even elderly patiently waited for their chance to dine.  whew!  We were escorted by their friendly crew to the seats reserved for us.  The interior of the resto was amazing!  They displayed some china artifacts which surely has a history on its own, what do they represent.  We were glad that we were seated at a comfortable couch.  Once seated we were given their menu booklet and the grumble of our hungry stomach begins.

    yang chow rice

    yang chow rice

Yang Chow Rice, a very well-known dish in every chinese resto.  This has been a staple in every chinese resto as i have noticed.  It has been an all time favorite and one of the bestsellers.  At the price of P200.00, you almost has your own viand together with your rice.   Consists of shrimp, sliced pork asado, sliced cabbage and sliced scrambled egg.  It was delectable and no one will go wrong with Yang Chow Rice.  A rating of 5/5 for this dish.

    stir fry beef hofan

    stir fry beef hofan

Stif fry beef hofan, a very appetizing noodle dish.  Imagine lasagna pasta sliced into 3, you’ll get hofan noodle.  Wider version of noodles but thin version of lasagna pasta.  The pasta was gummy, and good together with stir fry beef with a sweet and salty taste at the price of P220.00.  A rating of 4/5 for this dish.

    sweet and sour fish fillet

    sweet and sour fish fillet

Sweet and sour fish fillet, boneless fish fillet breaded and deep fried with sweet and sour sauce.  The blending of the sauce was perfect! And the texture of the fish was far from better it was the best!  For the price of P280.00 you’ll surely forget your name with this dish.  A rating of 5/5.

    mapo beancurd

    mapo beancurd

Mapo Beancurd, stir-fry minced pork with tofu, caution dish is quite spicy.  You’ll realize the spiciness of this dish if you have eaten the fresh chopped red pepper.  Although i don’t like spicy food, i can say i have given this a two thumbs up among other mapo beancurd that i have tasted.  At the price of P220.00.  A rating of 5/5 for this dish.

    salt and pepper spareribs

    salt and pepper spareribs

Salt and Pepper Spareribs, i was excited to taste the all-time favorite viand but was disappointed when i can’t even separate the meat from the bone.  It was spiced very well, taste ok but the meat was hard to chew, inspite that it doesn’t have much pork fat compared with other spareribs that we have tasted.  A rating of 3/5 for this dish.

    green mango shake

    green mango shake

Green Mango Shake, what’s a meal without a drink?  Taste just right not too sour nor too sweet for my taste.  A rating of 5/5 for this drink.

    Ripe Mango Shake

    Ripe Mango Shake

Ripe Mango Shake, this was too sweet for me.  I feel like my head will pop after drinking this, as if they have put 4 tablespoon of sugar/syrup.  To my dismay, 3/5 for this drink.

    apple shake

    apple shake

Apple Shake, they pleased me with this drink.  I feel like i’m a kid after sipping this drink.  It was just like the way i wanted.  No too sweet and it was truly an apple shake very refreshing.   A rating of 5/5 for this drink.

    carrot apple shake

    carrot apple shake

Carrot Apple Shake, who would have thought they would entertatin our request for my kid.  My son loves to drink carrot and a combination of fruit and we were very delighted when they accommodate our request, even if it’s not listed on their menu.  They go beyond their service and not only that their carrot apple shake was perfect! You could distinguish if it was fresh or they used canned drink to blend.   A rating of 5/5 for this drink.

Overall I give Choi Garden a rating of 4/5 for their service, presentation and food.  It was a great experienced.  Now i understand why people have all the patience to wait for hours just to dine here.
